Second Annual

Oklahoma Landmark Photo Contest

What’s this all about?

This is your chance to share what you know is educational, beautiful, or weird about Oklahoma, from iconic buildings, to quirky monuments, to hidden natural wonders. That means anything encouraging:

✅ Adventure

✅ Meaningful Moments

✅ State Pride

In 2024, we launched the first ever Oklahoma Landmark Photo Contest, giving everyone the opportunity to send in photos of our state’s best hidden gems. It was clear that — just like us — other Okies had a lot of love and pride for their home, and we were honored to turn those perspectives into something tangible.

What are we looking for?

We’re not National Geographic — our criteria are different from most photo contests, so please take these into consideration for your best chance at winning! We’re looking for your unique shots of things like state parks, Route 66 stops, public art pieces, fun family experiences, historical sites, and unique businesses.

Judging Criteria

Suitability for trading cards: Our goal is to create engaging cards that highlight landmarks and attractions anyone in Oklahoma can go experience! Does your photo show one of those places or things?

Landmark Accessibility: Is your photo of something that most people could enjoy without trespassing or spending a lot of money? It doesn’t have to be common or free, but our goal is to foster a community of exploration and tourism through these cards.

Fit for category: Does your photo fit into one of the contest categories?

Bonus points for composition, uniqueness, and overall intentionality shown in the image. Take a photo that makes us say, “Wait, that’s in Oklahoma?! We have to go see for ourselves!”

Contest judging will be conducted by the Oklahoma Trading Card Company founders and a panel of professional guest photographers. To ensure fairness and integrity in the results, we will maintain full discretion over the rules and process.

    FAQ

Are the terms favorable for photographers?

We think so, but we want to be as transparent as possible so you can make an informed decision on whether to enter.

Our goal is to produce beautiful, engaging trading cards. And in order to do that we needed the flexibility to color-balance or crop the images to best fit the paper and layout of the cards. To that end we wrote the terms to allow us to modify the submitted images. That means by submitting a photo, you give us the copyrights to that photo. As a team we’re committed to keeping the photos as close to the original as possible.

Because this contest is free to enter, we did a lot of brainstorming around how to increase the value for those who choose to participate. From the very beginning, we’ve kept a space next to every image on the card design for photographer credits, so your name and your work can be appreciated. Aside from the generous cash prizes, those with selected photos will also be promoted on our website and social media.

Long story short, our terms are very similar to most free-to-enter photography contests out there. That said, we would love to hear your feedback and suggestions on how we can add more value for those who participate!

Can I submit A photo of Something that was in series 1?

Anything that has already been published is still fair game. That said, we will give preference to landmarks that haven’t been featured yet.

Do I have to live in Oklahoma to enter?

No! Photos from anyone are welcome, as long as they were taken in Oklahoma.

    When will winners be announced?

Winners will be announced in September 2025. The prize money will be distributed immediately following announcement of winners.

When will the cards be publicly available?

Production for a product like trading cards takes several months. If you had a photo selected, you can expect to receive that card in early 2026. Other prizes will be distributed soon after the announcement of the winners.
